Kid Talk
Elliot commented that Finnley is a better reader than her. I said that Finnley has always done things first developmentally because she is older. Finnley - "Like I got an ear infection first..."
Both girls think the series goes... single, double, triple, fourthle, fivethle
I made gravy with a roast one night and Finnley helped me. The whisk was dirty so we just used a fork and a tiny bit of the flour clumped up. As we were eating she declared, "Yuck, I got a clump of flour! But it's okay because you are my mom."
The children were listening to Pandora on the Kindle and a commercial must have come on they'd seen a few times before.
Mason: "Why do they keep having this commercial for going to college? No one here is old enough to go to college. And mom is too old to go and dad is waaaay too old!"
One of our cats, Francis, just had a kitten, Finnley was out checking on it after the birth.
Finnley: "Mom, what's that things called... you know, the identical cord?"
Me: "You mean the umbilical cord?"
Finnley: "Yes, that! Francis just ate it."
Me: "That's pretty normal, the moms usually eat that kind of stuff after their babies are born."
Finnley: "Oh. Did you eat our umbilical cord?"
We let the kids watch a few episodes of Chopped and they loved it. For a while their toys were often on the show. They'd come up with obscure ingredients and whenever they eliminated someone Elliot would always say "Sorry, you've been illuminated!"
