Mason really enjoys swinging.
For a while.
Then, he's like, "Whoa, I'm not sure about this,
let's just stop now."
But, during the enjoyment period, he gets some pretty big smiles on his face.

Camping Up North.

A couple weeks ago, before school started for Tyler, we went on a miniature vacation.  I say miniature because it wasn't far away and it was only a few days long.  Those are not typical, regular vacations for my family.  When we do vacation, we do vacation.
We are the camping type of people, but not tent camping.  Been there, done that, we've moved on.  We have a fifth wheel camper and love it.  A tent cannot provide us with air conditioning, a bathroom, and a kitchen.  Those are non-negotiable amenities in our book.
We spent our mini-vacay in Sioux Falls, where my sister lives.  Actually, we lived about 40 minutes away from the city just 3 months ago.  We find it funny that there was so much we had never done after living so close for so long.  We met my parents up there and they camped in the spot next to us.  Most of our time at the campground was spent at their camper, as it is a step up from ours.
Our camper = Motel 6
My parent's camper = La Quinta
A great time was had by all.  We visited Falls Park, went shopping, went swimming, played games, and other vacation-y stuff.
And now, some pictures.

Vising my sister's itty bitty house.  We had another bout of thrush and tried gentian violet, that is why Mason's mouth is purple.

I don't know them, but thought they were cute.

 Pooped out baby.

Hmmmm, am I starting to look a lot like my mom?

 My purdy sister.

Lindy learned how to light the grill. About time.

Pinnable Me: Funnies.

Okay, so I've become a little too obsessed with Pinterest lately.  Sometimes I spend way too much time browsing through pins when really I should be going to bed.  At least I know, I'm not alone.  So, I thought this Friday I'd link up and share some pins I came across this week.
These are from my "Funnies" board and I hope you get a few good laughs.  I may or may not have laughed until I cried at a few of these.  Maybe they aren't that funny and I just need to get out of the house?  Funny or not, here they are.

Linked up with Paw Prints and Pastry Bags.

The Mess Maker.

What? You don't keep your birdseed next to your DVDs?

Don't worry, Mason, I'll clean it up.
Just remember, you owe me.

What's New On The Food Front?

Well, not much.
Mason is still not consuming a large amount of solids at this point (which is totally fine) and continuing to get most of what he needs from nursing.  As of late, I've bought a few jars of baby food to use as "jelly" on his toast and waffles in the morning.. and maybe because I really just wanted to have some little jars.  He enjoys eating the purees off pre-loaded spoons.  Dipping his own spoon does not happen at this point.  It might happen, but 5 seconds later, the bowl of food would be turned upside down.. so pre-loading it is for now.
Mason's only yucky face food at this point is applesauce.  He loves apples (sliced or whole), but no go on applesauce.  One of his most favorite foods is spaghetti, or pretty much any type of pasta with tomato-y sauce.  He's also a big fan of peaches, hamburger, chicken, and yogurt.  Of course he will eat almost everything.. besides applesauce.
An issue we've been having lately is food getting rubbed into the eyes.  Mason will have food residue on his hands, get tired, rub his eyes, and then keep rubbing his eyes because they hurt.  Vicious cycle continues.  I think I'm going to start getting supper ready a bit earlier and try to be ready to wipe his eyes if need be.  Because spaghetti sauce eyes can cut supper time short.
I guess something else that is kind of new to the mix is a couple top teeth.  Biting has become easier and it seems now he's getting more chunks off food.  Chunks he isn't expecting, so there is more gagging, like in the beginning.  I'm sure it won't last long, he'll soon figure out what his pearly whites are capable of.

The Nine Month Stats.

Mason had his 9 month well check today.  As I predicted, his new exercise routine has melted some weight off.  Not only is he a little easier on his mama's back, but some of the diapers that were hidden at the bottom of the pile that couldn't snap around his thunder thighs are once again seeing daylight.
He weighs 18 pounds (down from 20.5) which is middle of the line for breastfed babies.
He is 27 inches long and although I don't remember his head circumference, I do remember that he has a big noggin.. like 90th percentile big.
No shots this visit, which was nice, but also made the visit seem kind of pointless.  There were some smile and nod moments when the doctor talked about self soothing and new table foods, things we don't approach the way she preaches.  But, we always like finding out how our little one is growing.  And he's growing pretty darn well.

Mini Vacay.

Right now we are on a mini vacation.
So, I thought I'd post a photo to hold ya'll over.
This is what Mason looks like with a fauxhawk.

9 Months.

Dear Mason,

You have officially been outside my belly longer than you were growing inside my belly.  I have to say, you being in the "outside world" is going by much, much faster than when I was pregnant with you.

We haven't had your checkup yet, but I'm thinking you might weigh less than you did when we went in last month (20 1/2 pounds) because of all the exercising you do.  The size 18 month clothes are still fitting well, and what 12 month clothes you can still wear are getting a bit snug.  It may be time to pack those away soon.

We still aren't sure what color your eyes are going to be.  They can't make up their mind.  They seem to be a greyish, blueish, brownish, greenish color.  Mine still tend to change, so maybe your's will continue to be indecisive.

You are crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything, and start off shy of everyone new.  You love to practice standing with no hands and dancing when you're holding on to something.

You enjoy:
-Pulling laundry out of the clothes basket.
-Taking things out of the cabinets in the kitchen.
-Piggy back rides.
-Opening and shutting the medicine cabinet doors.
-Sitting in the sink and turning the water on and off.

-Turning the pages of books... and it seems like you know just when to do so.
-Crawling up the stairs.

-Being outside.

-New (to you) stuff.

You have a tooth coming in on top now, seems like we've been waiting forever for that thing to poke through.  It isn't visible yet, but we can feel it.
In three short months you will be a year old.  That's just weird.
Keep doing what you do.
